R-2196 is a rutile titanium dioxide pigment designed for solvent-based coating systems where both opacity and surface appearance must be strong. It is characterized by high gloss, high whiteness with a blue undertone, and easy wetting and dispersing. This combination is ideal for achieving a bright, crisp white and a smooth film that maintains gloss after drying or baking, preventing a hazy or dull finish. In tinted systems, the cleaner blue undertone ensures that pastels and light colors remain pure and vibrant.
Suggested applications include furniture coatings and high-performance industrial solvent-borne paints. The dispersion quality of R-2196 is a key factor in achieving a premium look. For optimal results, it is recommended to pre-wet the powder with a resin/solvent blend and compatible dispersant before grinding or milling. Excellent wetting properties help shorten milling times and stabilize the dispersion, reducing common issues like flooding, floating, or gloss loss during storage.
